What is BOLT?
Battery Optimized Logging Technology
IT'S THE MOST INTUITIVE BATTERY MONITOR IN THE OILFIELD
Having long-standing relationships with our customers, coupled with our dedication to on-going innovation, we strive to continually improve our battery technology to offer you the best in downhole power systems.
At Charger, we understand the value of good data, which is why in 2008 we set out to build the most advanced battery monitor in the business – Charger Oil Tick. Today’s data monitoring expectations have changed, and we proudly introduce the next evolution of the Oil Tick: BOLT (Battery Optimized Logging Technology).
BOLT measures voltage, current, temperature, shock and vibration both laterally and axially – all in a new dynamic, engaging user interface. It’s easier to navigate, use and helps you take the appropriate action to ensure advanced power monitoring for your downhole operations.
BOLT, the latest evolution of Charger Oil Tick, is our new and improved downhole power analyser. BOLT is the result of years of in-house development to offer our clients an advanced monitoring system to deliver precise and pertinent data on your battery performance and its condition anytime you need. When you choose Charger Industries for your battery requirements, it secures you an advantage being at the forefront of battery technology and use in downhole markets.
Loggin Capabilities
Each logging event is tagged with date/time from an internal real time clock. User can enter descriptive text for each session stored to BOLT memory.
Logging session begins when a load is attached to the battery and ends when the load is removed. Minimum load level and duration for session start/end events are configurable. For each measurement type, the resolution and storage frequency can be specified resulting in varied logging durations. With standard logging settings BOLT has over 500 hours of logging capabilities.
Measurement Storage
Each measurement has a dedicated storage rate at which a value is stored to memory. Values are sampled and averaged, then stored into memory at the storage rate interval. While logging, if a load remains constant for a configurable time period, logging will switch to low speed logging mode to reduce power consumption and save memory space. The sampling rate is decreased and the accelerometer is turned off to save power.
When battery activity resumes, BOLT exits low speed logging mode automatically.
Battery Depassification
While connected to a battery with BOLT, it is possible to depassify the battery for a user defined length. The voltage and current levels of the depassification session are then stored on BOLT for future reference.
Multiple Battery Pack Communication
For two battery systems it is possible to communicate with both batteries without having to separate them from each other. Communication is handled separately with each battery and it is possible to run separate depassification sessions on each battery, for ease-of-use.
Shock and Vibration Measurements
BOLT utilizes a high-frequency high-quality 200g three-axis accelerometer to accurately record shock and vibration at pack level.
BOLTlink & BOLTbox
BOLTlink facilitates communications with BOLT via BOLTbox. BOLTbox is protected with a CSA certified rugged aluminum die-cast enclosure to withstand the rigors of field use. Removable cables with customizable interface handles are used to facilitate communication with BOLT while the battery is still within its barrel housing.
BOLT Specifications
BOLT measures voltage, current, temperature, shock and vibration (both in lateral and axial). All measurements are taken at customizable sampling rates making our logging technology the most precise on the market.
